Today the rules of phrasing a wedding invitation are much more relaxed. Please use the examples as a guide to create your own unique wording. You are free to use any wording you wish. All invitations should mention that it is a wedding or marriage, give the time, date and place. Proper names of the bride and groom should be used as well.

In most cases if titles are used for one person on the invitation they should be used for all the people on the invitation. Punctuation is rarely used on an invitation. Quotes, passages or short poems can be printed at the top or bottom of the invitation and corner text is available. There are no set number of lines or characters. We will do our best to fit all the text you provide us with on the invitation. We can print in other languages. Languages that use other alphabets are not available. Accent marks are only available in some of the typefaces.

A great web site that helps you put together wording is:. verse it

Some sweet quotes that have been used or could be used:

When you wake up in the morning, Pooh, said Piglet at last,
what's the first thing you say to yourself?
What's for breakfast? said Pooh. What do you say, Piglet?
I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today? said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully.
Its the same thing, he said.

I will love you in a box
I will love you with a fox
I will love you here or there
I will love you anywhere

adapted from Dr. Suess's Green Eggs & Ham
"How much do you love me?" she asked.
"If I had to fill a glass, you'd have oceans."
"And, how much do you love me?" he asked.
"More than there are stars in the sky."

Love Tells Us Who We Are.
When I asked the Answer "Who?"
No Love answered
So I knew I had to wait for Love

For We are No one Before Love
A missing clue looking
For A Person
A Star looking for a sky
An "I am" waiting for
An I.Music Tells Us What We Feel
But Cannot Say Love Reveals
What We Know But Cannot SeeBefore You I was Nothing But
When You Gave me Your Hand
I took My Hand
For Love Tells Us Who
We Are So
When I asked the

Love answered
You.Donald T. Sanders b. 1944

I have a garden of my own
Shining with flowers of evry hue;
I love it dearly while alone,
But I shall love it more with you.Thomas Moore"Love is the only flower that grows
and blossoms
Without the aid of the seasons."-Kahlil Gibran"Love one another, but make it not
a bond of love;
Let it rather be a moving sea
between the shores of your souls."Kahlil Gibran

The night before the day of our wedding
I dreamed that the universe had a party,
All the stars were invited,
Beneath sparkling chandeliers,
the planets rejoiced;

In all its beautiful, candle-lit galaxies,
Crowded with glass-clinking revellers,
The Cosmos was Laughing with
Lasting Love and Light.Kate Farrell b. 1946

What is this day with two suns in the sky?
Day unlike other days,
with a great voice giving it to the planet,
Here it is, enamored beings, your day!

"Quatrain" Jalal-ud-din, 1207-1273

You have kissed a thousand times, maybe more. But today, the feeling is new. No longer simply partners and best friends, you have become husband and wife and sealed the agreement with a kiss. today, your kiss is a promise.

MILITARY:

Bride or Groom: Officers in the army, air force and marines with a rank of captain or higher use their military titles before their names. Navy and coast guard officers with a rank of commander or higher also use their military titles before their names. The name of the branch of service is then listed below their name. When their name is used with their spouse’s name the branch of service is not mentioned. Junior officers do not use titles before their names. Their titles appear on the second line before their branch of service. First lieutenants and Second lieutenants in the army both use lieutenants. In the air force and marines first and second are used. All other members of the military use only their branch of service on the next line. Their ranks are not used. High ranking officers who retire generally continue to use their military titles. Their retired status is noted after their service designation.

Parent(s) of either bride or groom that is mentioned on the invitation: The same rules as above apply however you can forgo including the branch of service on the second line. Women can opt to not include any mention of their military status and retired designations are not required.

Other notations: Guests: Military guests (active or retired) may wear their uniforms or traditional formal attire. Put “Full dress uniform invited” on the invites to request that your guests come in uniform.
